Real Madrid Sevilla
Third-place Sevilla head to Real Madrid on Sunday evening (Credit: Sevilla FC)

La Liga leaders Real Madrid are set to host Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night.

With Atletico Madrid lagging behind in fourth place and Barcelona 10 points off Carlo Ancelotti’s men, Sevilla could prove to be the Whites’ biggest title challengers this season.

Managed by former Spain boss Julien Lopetegui, the Andalusians currently sit third in the table, one point behind Real Sociedad and two points adrift of Real Madrid.

Sevilla have won eight of their 13 games so far this season, drawing four times and suffering just one defeat at the hands of struggling Granada back in early October.

The Red and Whites hold the best defensive record in the league, having conceded just nine goals in La Liga, with the much-coveted Jules Kounde proving to be a rock at the back in front of keeper Bono.

Captain Jesus Navas and star striker Youssef En-Nesyri will both definitely miss the game through injury, while Suso and summer signing Erik Lamela are considered doubts, meaning Lucas Ocampos could partner top scorer Rafa Mir up front.

Despite suffering a knock in the 2-0 Champions League win over Wolfsburg on Wednesday, Diego Carlos is expected to be fit for the big clash in the capital on Sunday.
